Oboist Emily Hart is based in Rochester, NY, where she serves as Assistant Professor of Oboe at Houghton University and is on the musicology and music theory faculty of Nazareth University. She is also Instructor of Oboe at the Eastman Community Music School, where she works with students of all ages. She is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) candidate at the Eastman School of Music.
A versatile performer, Emily's professional career includes solo recitals, chamber performances, and orchestral positions. As a recitalist, she seeks to curate innovative recital programs that have something to offer to audiences of all backgrounds. Her recent lecture recital at the Eastman School of Music, titled "Popular elements in two "new" works for oboe", featured a new commission by David Temperley and the music of Andrew N. White III. In addition to frequent chamber performances in Western New York, Emily has also performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, The Syracuse Orchestra, and the MostArts Festival Orchestra, and previously held positions with the Peoria Symphony and Knox-Galesburg Symphony.
